What type of glass do you use?

We use plain bevelled glass, made from sand and silicon.

It is not led crystal glass.

How do you clean your glass creation?

Use a dry, soft cloth to clean your glass creation.

Do not use water or chemicals. When we finish making each Zakay Glass Creation we coat it in finishing compound to protect it.

Can I suspend it outside?

It is better for the longitivity of your handcrafted Zakay Glass Creation to suspend it either inside or under a cover if you wanted it on your decking / balcony outside. It is better that the Geomtrica glass sculpture you choose is not directly in the rain.

Will the cable rust?

No - the cable fittings are made from the highest grade stainless steel and will not rust.

How long does it take to make a shape?

Each Geometrica glass sculpture and Luminary light is individual – as we use solder, which turns into a liquid when you heat it, if the solder was to fall off into the sculpture at the last moment of construction, it can take twice as long to finish a piece. It really depends on the complexity and size of the sculpture.

What is single and double bevelled glass?

This triangular piece of glass has a single or double angle surface cut. Bevels act as prisms in the sunlight creating an interesting colour diffraction which both highlights the glass work and provides a spectrum of colours which would ordinarily be absent in clear float glass.

What is dichroic glass?

Dichroic glass is glass containing multiple micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass dichroic optical properties. The main characteristic of dichroic glass is that it has a particular transmitted color and a completely different reflected color, as certain wavelengths of light either pass through or are reflected. This causes an array of color to be displayed. The colors shift depending on the angle of view.

How do I suspend my Zakay Glass Creation Geometirca Sculpture?

You can use a screw hook into your ceiling and suspend the glass creation from the hook. Alternatively you can purchase one of our specially designed stands to display your glass creation on a tabletop for example. We have two different designs . The Pod wooden table stand and The New Moon stainless steel stand.

How do I suspend my Zakay Glass Creation Luminary Light Sculpture?

Each Luminary Light Sculpture comes with an instruction document for your qualified Electrician.

This document outlines , in a step by step process, installation of lighting fixtures.

What Light globes do you use for Luminary Light Sculptures?

Luminary light sculptures by Zakay Glass Creations are fitted with 12 watt, 20 volt halogen light globes. You can choose to use 10, 20 or 35 volt halogen light bulbs.

How do I change the globe in a Luminary Light Sculpture?

These are easily replaceable by simply sliding the inner stainless steel tube outside of the sculpture, attaching a new globe and sliding it back in the steel tube – it is as simple as that.

What is the length of cable for Luminary Light Sculptures?

All ceiling pendants come with standard 40cm clear cable. If you require the length to be different please contact our office directly at your time of order.

What is the length of cable for Geometrica Glass Sculptures?

All ceiling pendants come with standard 30cm stainless steel cable. If you require the length to be different please contact our office directly at your time of order.

What method is used to construct the Zakay Glass Creations sculptures?

In our glass studio, we use the copper foil technique, which was established a century ago by Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Can I commission a special piece?

Zakay Glass Creations create commissioned art works for private and public collections. Please contact our office directly for all inquiries.

How long are gift vouchers valid?

Gift vouchers purchased from Zakay Glass Creations are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
