Asaf Zakay, Byron Bay, glass artist and designer, creates Sacred Geometric symbols in stunning three-dimensional art forms using the medium of bevelled glass. These timeless pieces are like gemstones; the facets and symmetries compel our eyes and hearts to encounter life more deeply, bringing healing and deepening spiritual awareness.

Asaf has realised his passion and his creative energy continues to flow as he intuitively constructs forms that radiate visual magic of stunning timeless presence. For as long as he can remember Asaf has been making the sacred symbol of the merkaba, the star tetrahedron, from a variety of materials including wood, metal, bamboo and shell. It wasn’t until he reached Australia that he began to research the meaning and the significance of this powerful and transformative shape.

Asaf hand crafts each piece carefully using the stained glass technique, a process he studied whilst he was in Israel. His background as a glass fitter and naturally gifted artist led him to explore the art of stained glass, a medium with which he now works full time.

Shortly after his arrival to Australia Asaf began selling his work at the markets in the area of Byron shire, where he was introduced to the Flower of Life, the teaching of the merkaba and sacred geometry. The combination of the sacred geometry teachings and meditation created a doorway for Asaf to open his eyes and tap into the unlimited potential of the human spirit.

People have commented when they are buying one of his works they are buying a piece of Asaf – and I suppose that is right, as he believes each piece that he makes is for someone in particular, and no matter where they are, or who is actually purchasing it for them, the right piece will go to the right person.

As he grows so does his work, continually producing more complex and visually exciting forms of geometry, which change the world around him into an experience of higher intention, greater freedom and possibility. Just the contemplation of these shapes and the fact they are in his everyday life on a physical level expands and brings to the world the knowledge that already exists inside him.

Asaf currently lives in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Australia, where he creates from his gallery/studio in Byron Bay.
